Ed Tittel, leading author, blogger, and all-around “certification guy,” and Jeff Johnson, Academic Area Lead North America in Microsoft Learning, will highlight some of the latest trends around growing industry certification opportunities in academia. They’ll cover the macro economic, career and hiring circumstances impacting the value of certification, and some of the new and flexible learning models in education. The session will also highlight opportunities available to students, teachers and schools in taking advantage of industry-relevant technology programs including a focus on the globally recognized Microsoft IT Academy program and accompanying Microsoft certifications.

People and Technology: So what exactly is SharePoint, and what do I do with it?
We’ll begin this session by answering these very common questions and discussing some of the practical ways of utilizing SharePoint 2010 that can benefit you and your team. We’ll examine different types of SharePoint sites, libraries, and lists and introduce you to the Site Settings page as a site collections admin and a SharePoint contributor.
Next you’ll observe as I go hands on with SharePoint 2010 to demonstrate:
- How to create a team site using the existing templates: We’ll see how easy it is to get a team site up and running in SharePoint
- How to create a document library and upload documents: Libraries provide one central location for all your documents and can be created quickly and easily in SharePoint
- How to create a SharePoint list: To do lists, Announcements, Calendar lists, whatever type of list you need, SharePoint provides a great way to create and manage it
